Mater comes to Hope Island

It won’t be long now before home owners at Halcyon Waters will be able to simply stroll over to the new Mater Health Centre to pick up a prescription or visit the physio. You can literally see the 1450m2 facility coming out of the ground as construction work progresses on the single level facility. $6million development is the result of an unique alliance between Halcyon and Mater Health Services, and is expected to be a popular addition to the local community, delivering seamless holistic health services.

Labelled the Gold Coast’s first multi disciplinary medical centre, the Mater Health Centre will be home to a comprehensive range of health services. Specialist suites, allied health services, radiology/medical imaging, Mater Pharmacy and a Mater Pathology collection centre are just some of the services offered. Halcyon has also secured leases with general practitioners and dental practitioners to complete the modern health facility.

Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Redland Executive Director Don Murray said Mater was committed to meeting the growing health care needs of the Northern Gold Coast region. “Hope Island and the North Shore of the Gold Coast have been identified as a region where Mater’s services would benefit the community,” Mr Murray said.

“This proposal includes a number of opportunities available for private specialists to practice in the medical suites, giving local residents access to specialist care in a number of disciplines in one convenient location,” he said.
Halcyon Joint Managing Director Dr Bevan Geissmann said he had experienced first hand the ‘quality of care and people that is Mater’ during his years in medical service.

“We are obviously delighted and proud to be associated with Mater Health Services and together we plan to deliver not only a great multi disciplinary health centre, but a great outcome for the people of the Northern end of the Gold Coast,” Dr Geissmann said
