Federal Government recognises Halcyon

Future home owners at Halcyon Landing will benefit from the recently announced Housing Affordability Fund (HAF) grant from the Federal Government. This grant will result in cheaper housing and reduced living costs, ultimately putting up to $18,000 back into the pockets of future Halcyon Landing home owners who purchase in Stage One of the new lifestyle community.

The grant to the Sunshine Coast Regional Council was announced at Halcyon Landing and was followed by an impromptu visit to Halcyon Parks, Caloundra by The Hon Tanya Plibersek, Federal Minister for Housing and the Status of Women, with the Mayor of Sunshine Coast Regional Council, Cr Bob Abbot in attendance with Cr Anna Grosskreutz Chair of the SCRC Housing Affordability Taskforce.

The HAF grant will enable over 50’s home buyers to access a substantial discount program on the purchase of low maintenance, six-star energy efficient housing in a masterplanned, lifestyle community.

Located adjacent to the River Markets Shopping Centre at Bli Bli, Halcyon Landing will also prove a major economic boost for the region resulting in local job creation in the central Sunshine Coast community.

“The Housing Affordability Fund is reducing costs incurred by future home owners as a result of planning delays and infrastructure costs, such as water, sewerage, transport and open space,” Ms Plibersek said.

Halcyon Landing Project Director Chris Carley said, “The assistance of the Federal Government’s Housing Affordability Fund and the Councils Housing Affordability Taskforce will provide significant cost savings to the delivery of this project. The cost of living going up for older Australians means affordability is a real issue. This grant helps Halcyon do what it does best, deliver quality housing and recreational facilities for over 50’s, and with no entry or exit fees to live in a Halcyon Community, it will be even cheaper to buy, and cheaper to live at Halcyon Landing.”

Future home owners at Halcyon Landing will also benefit from energy efficient home designs and renewable energy features that will, based on a State Government sustainability checklist, provide living cost savings in excess of $1,000 per annum.
